Many wonderful things have happened at the Macha eye clinic again recently. Below is an impression of how we have been able to help people through your contribution to Eye for Zambia.

The average Zambian does not have money for eye care, and that is why the work of Eye for Zambia is so important.

This is Elizabeth, 83 years old. She lost the sight in her right eye when she was younger because of an accident. In addition, she had been blind for several years due to cataracts. This left her completely dependent on other people. Thanks to Eye for Zambia, she had surgery. She is very happy with the result and did a dance of happiness for the eye clinic staff (if you want to see the video, please contact us).
Dr. van Kooij, ophthalmologist from the Netherlands, and president of Eye for Zambia has been to Zambia for the 3rd time. In the photo above, he is surrounded by patients who had cataract surgery by Elton Munguya (cataract surgeon) during his stay. This allows the patients to function again without dependence on others.
Several years ago, Liberty’s cornea (above) underwent surgery with the help of Eye for Zambia after an injury to the eye. Recently, he returned with cataracts and a cyst of the iris. This was again operated on, successfully. He is now happy with his sight again!
With Eye for Zambia, we not only work from the Macha eye clinic, but also travel further into the country.Unfortunately, not all Zambians can reach our clinic because of distance/finances. Eventually the patients who need surgery go with us to the Macha eye clinic. During the past surgical camp, the Zambian team operated on 38 patients at the Macha eye clinic.
